YOGA FOR CHILDREN

Yoga originates from India and means «union», because there is a connection with our inner self, as we learn to know and love ourselves, and because there is a second connection with the outside, as we learn to be in harmony with the environment. The practice of yoga for children has many benefits:

Improves posture: Yoga encourages good habits when sitting, walking, studying, practising sports, etc. This will help the child in his or her daily routine.
Increased self-esteem: The self-knowledge provided by yoga can help to improve a child’s self-esteem, as he or she learns to appreciate his or her faults and strengths.
Calm and relaxation: Breathing control, how to notice how the air passes through the body, are ways to bring calm to the child.
Concentration: The practice of yoga requires concentration, so the child will learn not to be distracted when doing this activity and will be able to use that skill when studying for example.
Fun: Fun is a must when it comes to children. Each pose is associated with an animal or a natural element, so children will have fun imitating the frog, the swan or the scorpion.
• Children between 2 and 8 years of age
• Maximum of 9 children per group.
• The activity consists of one session per week of 50 minutes, by age group.
